random. so very random.

Me and my two-nicorn: Did you see the latest Simpsons episode? A perfect hybrid of  Heavenly Creatures, your childhood, and everything you love about the Simpsons.

Headings, subject: According to my SLC librarian friend Andrew, my books are categorized under the following subject headings: self-esteem, forgiveness, family problems, interpersonal relations, erotic stories, California, love stories, popularity, schools, weight control, psychological abuse, Utah, and sex (each of those terms ends in “– Fiction”). Erotic stories? I wonder if that heading is only applied in Utah, where even the glimpse of an inappropriately bared upper arm could be “erotic” in certain settings.

Where are they now?: I just watched Gross Pointe Blank for the first time since 1997. I’d forgotten what a really good movie that is. Whatever happened to the dude who wrote that, Tom Jankiewicz? According to IMDB, it was his only movie. I’m always fascinated by people who have one big success and then disappear.

Famous people’s children who have their own mad skillz: I met bookavore last night, thanks to literaticat smuggling me into an ABA Winter Institute cocktail party. (Not that there were security guards or anything, but we did kind of go up a back stairwell and through a service hallway to get there…with the noms de internet and all, it sounds very Alias, doesn’t it?) We talked about bookselling, Androids, and her mom. We decided it would be cool if an ancestor of Melinda Sordino made a cameo in one of LHA’s historical books.

Waffles: These are realllllly good, if you like whole grainy stuff.
