weekend update

For some reason, I have had an insane amount of energy the last couple of weeks—and during a time when the calendar tells me I should be emotionally crippled by hormones. But I’m not! I think I am out of the depression that attacked over the summer and hung on through September and October, and have a backlog of unused mojo. (I did lose a day to migraine this weekend, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as usual.) On Saturday morning I actually vacuumed out the kitchen drawers with the attachment. And I’m also in a throw-stuff-away frenzy, so if you have any disorganized clutter within twenty feet of my house, watch out!

When I wasn’t nursing a headache, I baked bread, watched Dodsworth (gorgeous clothes! gorgeous Walter Huston! why had I not heard of this movie until a couple of weeks ago?), celebrated a couple of friends’ birthdays, made soup, and lined up some guests for the blog. Coming soon to this very screen: Donna Freitas, Emily Wing Smith, and the authors of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. What does baking bread have to do with writing? Stay tuned and find out!

What I did not do this weekend was read the things I’m supposed to be reading or write the things I’m supposed to be writing. The longer I’m at this as my full-time job, the harder it is to get myself to do anything related to work on the weekend. Which is completely okay, right? Right. Have a great Monday!

Have fun with your backlogged mojo!

I LOVE Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. Yummy breads.

You are such a go-getter, Sara. The authors on your blog? I’m still wishing for the cookbook. Amazing you are.

I have never once vacuumed out kitchen drawers. So you’re way ahead of me on THAT front, too.

Well, Ann, as I did it I had that phrase of your friend’s in my head: “I clean my house.”

Okay, you vacuumed the kitchen drawers and baked bread? I’m pretty pleased with myself after wiping down the counters.
