No one can teach you to be you, and that’s the one thing you have as a writer. So saith Matthew Quick, author of two books for young adults and two books for adults (one yet unpublished but forthcoming), including The Silver Linings Playbook, which has been made into a major motion picture directed by David O. Russell. It will be released Thanksgiving weekend.

Matthew (he goes by Q) and I chatted around a month ago about the movie, about the writing, about finding your voice and why he wrote The Silver Linings Playbook in secret while getting his MFA. He’s got a lot of wisdom and experience to share. You may want to take notes – I know I did.

My blog interview with Q from March, in which we got a lot more into his specific works and the themes he revisits

You’ve still got about a month to read The Silver Linings Playbook before you see the movie. I highly recommend that you do both.

Thanks for listening, and share with a friend!

It’s funny, I know Matt and have never called him Q in my life. I wonder if he secretly hates that I don’t. Hm. Anyway, great interview Sara! Matt always has some insightful things to say about writing, life, and the creative process. Thanks!

This is pure, Matt! The teacher and the writer come together in this interview perfectly. I am so thankful for his writing and his message. Thank you Sara for such a wonderful interview!
