You’re invited to join me in doing a Creighton College’s “34 week retreat for everyday life.” This is what I’ve decided to try in order to get the kind of thoughtfulness and rest that I get on my trips into my daily life. Since actual, in-person retreats usually involve a spiritual director or a group, I set up a LiveJournal community as a place to share the experience of doing the retreat. You need a LiveJournal account to join, but that’s pretty easy and is free. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, more info is here.
In other news: we watched Shopgirl last night. There was a lot about it that was pretty great, but the voiceover was totally unnecessary and perhaps Steve Martin should not have starred in his own movie and done the voiceover. Also, though the songs in it were good enough to make me want the soundtrack, the score was a bit repetitive. Claire Danes is all growed up.
Have you seen this? Click here for a short little video on The Miniature Earth. “If the world’s population were reduced to 100, it would look something like this…” It’s pretty cool, even if it isn’t like the cover of The Little Prince, which is what I secretly hoped it would be.

To be mildly tangential, I have to say that my favorite bit from “The Little Prince” was where he says that it’s tiresome for children to have to explain everything to adults all the time. Totally dead-on.
I want to do this retreat with you. It sounds really good and much needed at this time. By the way, an e-mail is in progress to you. It should be on it’s way soon!
